Cross the Atlas

Nomatrail's   most surreal   adventure!

Grup in the Atlas Mountains running vacation

This is Nomatrail’s most surreal adventure — a 7-day journey covering ~118 km from the Tizi’n’Timit mountain pass (2,901 m) to the dunes of Merzouga, deep into the Moroccan Sahara.

It’s not just a run. It’s a crossing. A connection. A transformation.
You’ll pass through ancient mule trails, lush valleys, arid plateaus, and golden dunes. This isn’t a loop — it’s a north-south traverse of Morocco on foot.

Let us help you plan your next adventure

Why Runners Choose Nomatrail

I’ve never run through locations so far removed from this century, and it’s not because there are no people; it’s because in some of those communities, there are very few things that could make you realize you’re not in medieval times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your most common questions before you set off on your next Nomatrails expedition.

If you’re an experienced runner who enjoys varied terrain and cultural depth, this trip is for you. It’s challenging, but not ultra-endurance.

Since 2016 we’ve led this trip 15 times.

Not at all. Expect deep human connection, traditional meals, cultural rituals, language lessons, desert music, and communal fires.

All accommodation, guided runs, cultural experiences, transfers, meals, and full logistics. Flights are not included.

Absolutely — most of our runners travel solo! You’ll be part of a welcoming group from day one. Expect friendships, not awkward silences. However, our prices are based on double accomodations, so, on some nights, there will be a 60 euros supplement for single travellers.

We eat only Moroccan food. Since we travel to very remote places, there’s not much in the way of vegan protein, so we encourage vegans to bring their own supplements to enjoy alongside the cous-cous and veggies.
