Among our curated journeys, the trail running Costa Rica expedition stands out as our wildest and most demanding adventure. This unique experience takes us through a founder’s homeland, offering a profound connection to the country’s intense natural beauty. It’s a journey that challenges and rewards, designed for those seeking an immersive experience beyond the ordinary.
Our expedition begins at the 3,450-meter summit of Cerro de la Muerte, from where we descend through cloud forest and dense jungle. The route leads us all the way to the wild South Pacific coast, navigating river crossings and offering authentic homestays along the way. Expect heat, humidity, and thick vegetation – conditions that make this trip mentally intense.
Our Trail Running Costa Rica Adventure: A True Expedition

This trail running Costa Rica journey is crafted as a true group effort. We emphasize camaraderie over speed, with no pace pressure, ensuring everyone can appreciate the surroundings. Strong local support is a cornerstone of this experience, allowing us to delve deep into remote areas safely and respectfully. This adventure is specifically designed for experienced trail runners who possess strong fitness levels.
To ensure this expedition is the right fit for interested runners, we arrange a pre-trip call with a founder. This conversation allows us to discuss the demands and confirm that participants are prepared for the unique challenges of the jungle environment. We believe in running as a means of transport, not an end, focusing on authentic experiences and human connections.
Spaces on all our trips are small and strictly limited. For the 2027 season, our Costa Rica expedition is scheduled for 9–16 January. We invite you to explore more about this journey and other adventures on our calendar.
What to expect on the expedition

This is a serious undertaking: around 139 km (about 86 miles) of running across six days, from the 3,450 m summit of Cerro de la Muerte, down through cloud forest and dense jungle, all the way to the wild South Pacific coast. Expect demanding mountain running, river crossings, and hidden jungle waterfalls you’d never find on your own.
Along the way we stop for lunch deep in the jungle at a local family’s home — fresh food they grow themselves and coffee straight from the farm — and stay in homestays with local families. It’s physically and mentally intense, so train well. The reward is breathtaking scenery, warm and friendly locals, delicious food, and friendships that last long after the week ends.
