For those joining us on a Costa Brava trail running adventure, we know preparation is key to an enjoyable experience. Over the years, we’ve refined our advice on what to pack for a Costa Brava trail running trip, ensuring you’re comfortable and ready to explore the wild coastline and ancient villages. Our family business, NomaTrails, has been creating running experiences since 2010, and we believe running is a means of transport, not an end. It’s about discovering new places and making human connections, traversing territory like only runners can.
Our Costa Brava trip is designed for exploration, not competition. We encourage stops for swimming in turquoise coves, taking photos of historic villages, and enjoying refreshments. We accommodate different running abilities, making it our most flexible and least demanding adventure. Daily stages range from 12 to 24 km, and can be adapted to suit the group.
Your Costa Brava Trail Running Packing List

This is the essential packing guidance we send to our runners, ensuring you have everything you need for a comfortable and authentic experience along the Costa Brava. Remember, our philosophy is about connecting with the land and its people, so practical comfort is always our priority.
✓ The checklist
- Summer running clothes: The best months to visit are March, April, May, June, September, and October. We avoid tours in December, January, February due to cold weather, and July, August due to extreme heat.
- Swimming costume: You’ll want to take advantage of the beautiful Mediterranean coves.
- Sun cream: Bring plenty! The Mediterranean sun can be strong.
- A small towel: Useful for laying on the beach during an afternoon stop.
- Your camel back: Staying hydrated on the trails is important.
- Energetic bars: If you have specific preferences or are used to certain brands, we recommend bringing your own.
- Casual clothes: There’s no need for anything fancy. Shorts and flip-flops are perfect for dinner in the ancient villages we stay in.
Luggage and Logistics
We want your focus to be on the trails and the experience, not on carrying heavy bags. Daily luggage transportation is included, meaning your main luggage is moved between hotels each day. This allows you to run point-to-point with just a small day pack. Because of the daily transfers and limited van space, we ask you to pack light, and soft backpacks are preferred over hard suitcases.
Please note that washing facilities are not available during the trip, so plan your running gear accordingly.

“From Girona to Cadaqués on foot. The vibrant locals, medieval villages and stunning coastline transformed Cataluña from a name on a map to a place of real meaning. Nothing but gratitude to Nomatrails.”
